Here's a helpful hint from the good ol' Wolfeman!:
When operating a motor vehicle, if you happen to notice a beautiful, attractive young lady walking down the sidewalk, avoid the temptation to become distracted. Doing so could result in a nasty car wreak which could possibly kill you, other drivers, passengers or the said lady in addition to wreaking your car.

I know that I rarely use my weblog to talk of personal issues and instead like to talk of larger issues, but it's my weblog, and I can do what I want.
I kind of hate talking like this. When I write on my weblog, I write, and I'm done. One or two of you might decide to comment on what I wrote, but whatever.1 I think that I prefer talking to people in real life. Then again, this isn't some fake life that I have on the Internet; this is just a part of my real life as is everything else. Okay, I meant to say that I prefer talking to people face-to-face. I can't really tell you why that's the case, but it really just makes a lot more sense.

Of all six of us living in our house this next year at JBU, three are from Kansas City (or the greater Kansas area), two are from Denver and one is from Oakland.
Does that not seem like a recipe for disaster?

Whatever the answer to the question is, Peter's outdoor patio fireplace burned hot enough to burn all of my old love letters.
Cleaning out my room the other day, I came across a collection of love letters, notes written in French and Esperanto lessons from a certain someone who turned out to be a mistake. With bitter feelings residing in my head, I felt the urge to destroy the papers. However, it really didn't seem right burning them alone. So, I called my good friends to make an event of it. It turned out to just be Peter and myself burning the correspondence. Peter wanted to turn it into a male-bonding ritual, at which point, it got really weird (ask us later).
I've never really talked about my breakup here before. Essentially, I'm not too happy about how a certain relationship ended. I dated the wrong person. She was a really great friend, but I decided to take the friendship to the next level. That was a mistake. I ended up dating her for about a year and a half before I broke it up. Now, she won't even talk to me because she claims that I broke her heart. Okay, I broke her heart; sure. However, what would be preferable: breaking a girl's heart or marrying her, hating her, killing her? Even though when I broke up with her, I was thinking about myself, I ended up doing her a favour. I just didn't want to date her. I know that it seems selfish, but, if it wasn't something that I wanted, I doubt that taking her along was the best option. However, I still wanted to be her friend; I still do. I was reading all of the old correspondence before I burned it. A constant theme in the letters was something along the lines of “you're the best thing that happened to me this year”, “you've been a great friend”, “I can tell that we'll be friends forever”. Well, for such a wonderful friend that I was, that bitch sure has a unique and strange way of paying me back.

Here is a question for all of my friends; if you see this, give me your opinion:
If you knew that I had committed some heinous crime (say I had murdered a little girl), would you turn me in and betray our friendship or cover it up for me?

People have been welcoming me to the real word. What does that mean? The real world? Have I been living in the fake world these past twenty years? Has nothing that I've done so far mattered?
This concept of the “real world” has to stop… and I have to stop it.

Is it just me or does a five-hundred dollar price tag for books for one semester seem a little too steep? I mean, really, are we really going to need five books for a single course?

I feel like I'm not accomplishing much right now. I'm eager to get back to college where I can work, study and sleep. Of course, I'm doing that here right now, but it's a lot more fun at college.

It's much better to learn than to think. By all means, learn and think both, but if you must choose between the two, learn. If you learn and don't think, you are wasting the precious intellect that God endowed to you. However, if you think and don't learn, you are entering uncharted territory; you are drawing conclusions and acting upon things that you have no business drawing conclusions or acting upon. Fortunately, as humans, there never should be a time where we must choose between the two. Still, we do, and this is understandable: thinking comes naturally; learning does not. We can think without ever getting out of our bed in the morning. If we desire to learn, we must seek out knowledge, and that's not something that we can achieve by lying in bed all day.
Despite a person's best intentions, even the most disciplined student of knowledge can never expect to learn everything that there is to learn. With that said, it's important to keep that in mind when dealing with the unknown, it's always acceptable to just admit “I don't know”. It would make much more sense to tell the truth and admit that there are aspects of existence that you don't know much about than to chalk an answer and be wrong. Plus, depending on the situation, a wrong answer can mean the difference between life and death.

Apparently, some people are upset that immigrants to the United States are taking jobs and leaving none for American teenagers. Therefore, immigration should be reduced because of that.
Look at it this way: if the reverse were true, immigrants couldn't find jobs because the American teenagers are taking them. Who is to say whether a teenager or an immigrant is more entitled to a job over the other? I say it should go to the one who will work the best.
For those upset that teenagers can't find jobs, big deal; they'll live. Where an immigrant would need a job to feed his family, a teenager would need a job to pay for her mobile-phone bill so that she can talk incessantly with her girlfriends 24/7.

Okay, today's post might be a little long, so I'll summarise it here for you really quickly:
Okay, here goes: I notice in conservative-Christian circles that there exists a sense of patriotism that is almost as unquestionable as the faith that is practised. I don't know what to peg it on. I don't know the cause, but I would assume that there are several different reasons rather than a simple one. Of course, I have mentioned on here before my views that the American Revolution is the complete opposite application of biblical principles. I have several arguments about it with several different people, and, I'll admit, I never get tired of arguing (unless someone comes to the podium with a closed mind). So, really, I'm not adding to the conversation anything new. I'm just making my traditional why-do-we-celebrate-this statement. It just doesn't work out well for me since I live in a conservative-Christian circle, but I lack any patriotism for America whatsoever.
Hmmm, I thought that I was going to have a lot more to say, but the things that I have to say just don't seem to follow nicely. O well. That's just something to get the ball rolling.
Thoughts?
