…and all I got was this lousy t-shirt that I didn't even wear because it was so lousy.

Yeah, I pride myself on being a political independent. I grew up exposed to the right-wing's whatnot, but some (if not a lot) of the views that the political right holds are just to ridiculous for me to associate with. Looking at some sites yesterday, I came across a t-shirt store1 that makes my point exactly:

IMAO's Top Ten Military Slogans

Okay, here are some wonderful sayings for the great American dream of respecting life. “We don't like collateral damage, but it helps to stay the @#$% out of our way.”, “Just point at what you want dead.”, “Trying to win hearts and minds but willing to splatter them if necessary.” and, the one that offends me the most, “We kill foreigners so you don't have too.”. Wow, that one seems to me like it's trying to say that foreigners are a subhuman species who are out to kill the sons and rape the daughters of the superhuman Americans.

This one should be obvious why I find it offensive.

Mecca Weather Forecast

What's trying to be said here? Kill Muslims?

Okay, being of half-Mexican heritage2, this doesn't bode well with me.

Sorry, we're closed.

Whatever happened to the old American philosophy of being a beacon of light to the world? If you aren't aware, every single person in the United States is there because of immigration. If it was good then, why is it bad now?

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

Okay, rather than be so negative, I'll show some t-shirts that I actually liked.

Celebrate Diversity

Here's one that I really appreciate, but…

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (good)

…when your consider their clientèle that they're trying to cater to (right-wing, conservative, moral Americans), I think that they need to rethink their advertising methods.

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (bad)

  2. I said heritage. I did not say ancestry.
