I keep asking God that His desires might become my desires, but I know that something that I greatly desire isn't His will nor in my best interest, yet I'm still drawn to do it. Why am I still wanting what I shouldn't do, or is that fact that I still do want it God's way of telling me something?

I'm pretty sure I have the same problem. As does every other Christian that is living/has ever lived. I don't think that's so much your personal problem as it is a problem with fallen human beings in general. Don't know if that makes you feel any better about it or not...but it's not just you.
