Okay, Christmas is rapidly approaching; it will be here before we know it. In the radio industry we're already preparing for it.
Truth be told, I hate the popular, modern Christmas music. No, it's not because of any stupid theological reason or some belief that Santa distracts from the true meaning of the holiday or any crap like that. Just think about this: what would you rather listen to: carols and hymns that are quite possibly ten centuries old sung by cathedral choirs in such a beautiful reverence of tradition or Barbra Streisand on crack singing “Jingle Bells”?
Quote to ponder: “Oh look, yet another Christmas TV special! How touching to have the meaning of Christmas brought to us by cola, fast food, and beer… Who'd have ever guessed that product consumption, popular entertainment and spirituality would mix so harmoniously?” — Bill Watterson
